Memento Mori, Gianna Bianchi “ la rosa rossa ” 40x40 cm oil on canvas , vanitas art work

A vanitas is a symbolic work of art showing the transience of life, the futility of pleasure, and the certainty of death, often contrasting symbols of wealth and symbols of ephemerality and death. Best-known are vanitas still lifes, a common genre in Low countries of the 16th and 17th centuries; they have also been created at other times and in other media and genres.

Gianna, who comes from a family of Florentine artisans, painters, decorators and restorers, specialized in the oil painting technique, started working with her father at a very young age (Riccardo Bianchi, master craftsman among the greatest painters of art copies and restorers ), just long enough to graduate from the Art Institute of Florence.

Gianna therefore specialized in the recovery of the working techniques of the ancient masters and in their improvement thanks to the new materials available today. It does everything entirely by hand: from the realization of the frame to the preparation of the canvas, from the preparatory drawing to the drafting of the color.

The works he has created are also exhibited in numerous city’s around the world.
