A gilt silver egg pendant by Fabergé master Anders Johan Nevalainen, enameled in azure guilloché and featuring a relief image of a berry on a branch set with seven simulated diamonds, was made in St. Petersburg, Russian Empire, in the late 19th/early 20th century. Anders Johan Nevalainen is one of the most famous Finnish jewelers of the late 19th/first quarter of the 20th century. He collaborated with the Fabergé jewelry company. He was born on January 1, 1858, in Pielisjärvi, Grand Duchy of Finland. From 1874, he worked in St. Petersburg: from 1875 - as an apprentice goldsmith and from 1885 - as a master goldsmith. At first, he worked in the workshop of August Holmström; later, he became an independent master, working exclusively for the Fabergé company. The bow was engraved with the initials "A.N" of the master builder and, to the right, the head of a woman with a kokoshnik and the "88" silver standard of Imperial Russia, the hallmark for the highest quality silver objects, established in 1847.
