An oval silver gilt medal, obverse inscribed by LA REPÚBLICA MEXICANA A SUS VALIENTES HIJOS (The Mexican Republic to its Courage Sons) surrounded by a tied coffee wreath, reverse depicting the inscription TRIUNFO GLORIOSAMENTE DEL EJERCITO FRANCES DELANTE DE PUEBLA EL 5 DE MAYO DE 1862 (He Won with Glory against the French Army in Puebla on 5th of May of 1862) surrounded by a laurel wreath, measuring 21.52 mm (w) x 30.54 mm (h - inclusive of the integral ring), accompanied by original of time period ribbon.
