La chica y el pulpo is a bronze sculpture portraiting a young woman with an octopus hat. The title means, in Spanish, the girl and the octopus Francesca is intrigued by octopuses, they are such amazing creatures, they can squeeze themselves into tiny holes, change shape and color, they are a great metaphor for transformation, change and self challenging. Francesca has different pieces related to octopus, in different sizes and materials.
This piece has a black, green, brown and touches of white patina. The black patina is made from the green one, after a burning process, so magical and mystical.
Please remember that this piece is part of a serie of 6, and the patina (colors) can vary a little from piece to piece (I always try to make them the most similar, but part of the beauty of patinas is exactly their uniqueness).
Francesca Dalla Benetta was born in Florence, Italy, on August 18, 1977.
After a truncated career in Physics, she studied the Bachelor of Arts in the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera, Milan, graduating in 2003.

Since 2003 she has worked on numerous film projects such as Make Up Artist and as a Sculptor.
She has 15 individual and even more collective exhibitions as a sculptor, at an international level.

She has taught in different institutions such as Tec de Monterrey in San Luis Potosí and the Museum of Contemporary Art in Matamoros, Tamaulipas.
