Saint Agustín Caloca Cortés, also known simply as Agustín Caloca, was born on May 5, 1898, in Teul, Zacatecas, Mexico. He began his religious studies at the seminary in Guadalajara, Mexico, but the seminary was unfortunately closed by anti-clerical government forces. However, this setback did not deter him; he persevered in his vocation and continued his studies at the clandestine auxiliary seminary of Our Lady of Guadalajara, founded by Saint Cristóbal Magallanes. Agustín Caloca’s passion and dedication to the priesthood led to his ordination on August 5, 1923. Following his ordination, he served as prefect of the auxiliary seminary, guiding and nurturing future priests during their formation. Yet, his commitment to his religious work drew the attention of the authorities, and he was arrested and falsely accused of participating in the armed Cristero rebellion.

Tragically, Saint Agustín Caloca Cortés, along with Saint Cristóbal Magallanes, met a tragic end due to their unwavering dedication to their faith. On May 25, 1927, both men were martyred, executed by firing squad in Colotitlán, Jalisco, Mexico.
