Antique 18th century coconut shell powder flask, fitted with silver nozzle and cap with a silver dog and carry handle of the side.

Coconut shell powder flasks were reputedly carved by sailors or soldiers who visited the East or West Indies in the late 18th/early 19th centuries, and had access to green coconut shells which were easier to carve than dried ones.

A very unique and highly collectable item rarely found.
