The Holy Year of 1950 was the last historical moment in which the Church appeared to the world in all the power that comes from being the Chair of Truth. While Europe was painstakingly recovering from the moral and material ruins of the war, the Jubilee offered an extraordinary vision of the Church Militant of Christ. The culminating moment of the Holy Year was the proclamation of the dogma of the Assumption of Mary into Heaven on November 1, 1950.
