Saint Tranquilino Ubiarco Robles, also known simply as Tranquilino, was a courageous priest who lived during a tumultuous time in Mexican history. Born on July 8, 1899, in Zapotlán el Grande, within the diocese of Ciudad Guzmán, Jalisco, Mexico.

He celebrated Mass in private homes, ensuring that Catholics who were unable to worship openly had access to the Eucharist. He also provided spiritual guidance, administered the sacraments, and supported his community in any way he could. Tranquilino's dedication to his pastoral work eventually led to his martyrdom. In the face of intense persecution, he steadfastly refused to abandon his duties as a priest. In particular, he was caught celebrating a marriage Mass, an act that put his life at great risk. Tranquilino's captors tried to force him to renounce his faith and his ministry, but he courageously refused. On the morning of October 5, 1928, Tranquilino was hanged from a tree in front of the house where he had been celebrating Mass in Tepatitlán, Jalisco, Mexico.

His execution was a stark reminder of the incredible sacrifice he made in order to bring the sacraments and spiritual support to his persecuted community. Saint Tranquilino's remarkable faith and dedication did not go unnoticed. On May 21, 2000, he was canonized as a saint by Pope John Paul II.
